Volume Integral Equations for Scattering from Anisotropic Diffraction Gratings

چکیده
We analyze electromagnetic scattering of TM polarized waves from a diffraction grating consisting of a periodic, anisotropic, and possibly negative-index dielectric material. Such scattering problems are important for the modelization of, e.g., light propagation in nano-optical components and metamaterials. The periodic scattering problem can be reformulated as a strongly singular volume integral equation, a technique that attracts continuous interest in the engineering community, but has rarely received rigorous theoretic treatment. In this paper we prove new (generalized) G̊arding inequalities in weighted and unweighted Sobolev spaces for the strongly singular integral equation. These inequalities also hold for materials for which the real part of the material parameter takes negative values inside the diffraction grating, independently of the value of the imaginary part.

Simulation of Surface Plasmon Excitation in a Plasmonic Nano-Wire Using Surface Integral Equations
In this paper, scattering of a plane and monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nano-wire is simulated using surface integral equations. First, integral equationsgoverning unknown fields on the surface is obtained based on Stratton-Cho surface integral equations. Then, the interaction of the wave with a non-plasmonic as well as a palsmonic nano-wire is considered. It is shown that in scatter...

We propose a Nyström/product integration method for a class of second kind integral equations on the real line which arise in problems of two-dimensional scalar and elastic wave scattering by unbounded surfaces. Stability and convergence of the method is established with convergence rates dependent on the smoothness of components of the kernel. The method is applied to the problem of acoustic s...

The scattering problem is described by a system of Helmholtz equations with piecewise constant coefficients in R coupled by special transmission conditions at the interfaces between different layers. متن کاملA New Integral Equation Formulation for Scattering by Penetrable Diffraction Gratings
This paper is concerned with the problem of scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic waves from penetrable diffraction gratings in the 2D polarization case. We propose a new, weakly singular, integral equation formulation for the scattering problem which is proved to be uniquely solvable. A main feature of the new integral equation formulation is that it avoids the computation of the normal ...
